PREFACE.

We have the pleasure of presenting to our readers the last number of the volume of the METHODIST NEW CONNEXION MAGAZINE for 1873.

Many pleasant talks have we and our valued contributors had with our readers during the year, and we hope to have many more of the same kind during the coming year.

If our readers are not tired of us we invite them to a continued friendly companionship for another year. We have tried to please, instruct, and profit them to the best of our ability, and if they are satisfied we have our reward.

We want to circulate as many Magazines as possible, and we want our friends to help us to this result with all the energy they possess. We can do little without their help. We are

not present in every place to recommend our wares, and we desire every minister and reader to become our substitute and do this for us. We hope they will give us a good word as far as they conscientiously can, and help the Magazine to hold its own in this busy and competitive age.

We hope no one will say, "Stop my Magazine"; our advice, rather, is to hold on and see what Providence will send next year. Perhaps Providence will send many a good word through this Magazine to individuals, households, and churches next year. At all events it will be published (D.V.) as usual every month, and we

hope it will come freighted with good things-things that will feed the minds and warm and purify the hearts of those among whom it circulates.

Thanking God for the past, and hoping in Him for the future, let us all labour faithfully till the Master comes.

THE EDITOR.

London, December 1, 1873.
