WE MEET AGAIN.

Introductory Verses.

"WE MEET AGAIN!"-delightful thought When Parting's hour is near, With sweetest consolation fraught,

To dry the starting tear.

When first to School the urchin goes,
It soothes his grief and pain;
Hope in his boyish bosom glows—
The hope to meet again!

And still that hope, in after life,
This flattering tale will tell;

Youth's ardour, Manhood's sterner strife,
Alike confess its spell:

B

Nor love, nor fame, nor rank, nor power,

Its influence can disdain ;

Vot'ries of each, in Parting's hour

Must wish to meet again.

For Nature has unnumber'd ties,
Entwining heart to heart;
Feelings, affections, sympathies,
Which make it pain to part.
And none, thus link'd unto their kind,
By Being's brightest chain,
But in them bear a wish enshrin'd-

Whisp'ring-"We meet again!"

The World, tis true, has much to mar
The force of this appeal,

Too much that feeling oft must jar,
In hearts which deepest feel;
But, in despite of worldly care,
Who can at times refrain

To breathe the fond and fervent prayer ;-
Oh! may we meet again!
