Jefus faid unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own felf, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. And to make all men fee what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, vifible and invifible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all things were created by him, and for him. God hath in thefe laft days fpoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed Heir of all things, by whom alfo he made the worlds. Q. These are very clear, that even the world was created by Chrift: but what fcriptures prove the divinity of Chrift, against fuch as falfely deny the fame? A. And the Word was God. Whose are the fathers, and of whom, as concerning the flesh, Chrift came, who is over all, God bleffed for ever. Amen. Who being in the form of God, thought it no robbery to be equal with God. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jefus Chrift: this is the true God and eternal life. Q. What are the glorious names the fcriptures give unto Jefus Chrift, the eternal Son of God? A. And his name fhall be called Wonder- Ifa. ful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlafting Father, the Prince of Peace. Who is the image of the invifible God, Col. the first-born of every creature. 1.15. 1.3. Who being the brightness of his glory, Heb.. and the exprefs image of his perfon (or more proper, according to the Greek, of his fubftance.) 19. 136 And he was clothed with a vefture dipped Rev. in blood; and his name is called the Word of God. Q. After what manner was the birth of Chrift? I. 18. A. Now the birth of Jefus Chrift was Mat. on this wife; When as his mother Mary was efpoufed to Jofeph, before they came together, fhe was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 32, 34, And the angel faid unto her, Fear not, Luke 1. Q. Was Jefus Chrift, who was born of the Virgin Mary, and fuppofed to be the fon of Jofeph, a true and real man? A. Forafmuch as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he alfo himfelf took part of the fame, that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil. For verily he took not on him the nature 16, 17. of angels, but he took on him the feed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it be hoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest, &c. Heb. 4. 15. Rom. 5, 15. After what manner doth the scriptures affert the conjunction and unity of the eternal Son of God, in and with the man Chrift Jefus? 14. A. And the word was made flesh, and John dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. For he whom God hath fent, fpeaketh John the words of God; for God giveth not 3. 34. the spirit by measure unto him. Q: Was Jefus Chrift really crucified and raifed again? A.
