GRACE BEFORE MEALS.

Bless, O LORD, these Thy creatures to our use, and sanctify us to Thy service, for CHRIST's sake.

AMEN.

GRACE AFTER MEALS.

For these and all His mercies, the LORD's Holy Name be praised. AMEN.

DEVOTIONS FOR BED-TIME.

When you enter your chamber for the night,

drive away all worldly thoughts, and fix your

mind upon God and heavenly things. Try to prepare for prayer, by saying a hymn or

a few verses of the Psalms to yourself.

Begin your Evening Devotions by repeating the

APOSTLES' CREBD.

“I believe in God the FATHER Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth. And in JESUS CHRIST His only Son, our LORD; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead and buried, He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into Heaven, And sittethon the Right Hand of God, the FATHER Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy Catholic Church ; The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of Sins; The Resurrection of the Body, And the Life Everlasting. AMEN.”

Afterwards say,

O LORD, keep me steadfast in this faith, and strengthen me always to confess Thee before men, that I may be Thine for ever. AMEN.

Then, kneeling down, first say,

“O! Holy Ghost, teach me to know myself, and my sins." Keep on your knees, and carefully examine your

conscience; think over the whole of the day past-where you have been, what you have been doing, whom you have seen and talked with When you have done this, ask yourself the following questions, or any others which may better help you to find out your faults.

Have I prayed to-day as I ought-in the morning-at noon—during my work? Have I watched over my wordstemper-over my behaviour with others ?

Have I been patient and industrious, doing all things as unto God, and not only to please men ?

-over my

Have I thought evil of any one, said anything untrue, or done anything deceitful?

Have I now any particular sin on my conscience ?

Have I any special mercy to be thankful for this night?

In asking yourself these questions, whenever

you find that you have done wrong, confess your sin at once to Almighty God; try to feel heartily ashamed and sorry for your fault -and beg of Him very humbly and earnestly to forgive you, and to help you by His grace

to do better for the time to come. When you have thus examined yourself, think

how the LORD JESUS suffered and died on the Cross to save you from the punishment due to your sins, and say,

“By Thine Agony and BLOODY SWEAT; by Thy Cross and Passion : Good JESUS, pardon and save me!”

O Almighty God and Heavenly FATHER, I thank Thee for all the mercies of the day past, and of my whole life. I confess with shame and sorrow that I have not loved Thee, served Thee, nor obeyed Thee as I ought to have done. For JESUS CHRIST's sake have pity on me, and forgive me all my sins; grant me Thy HOLY SPIRIT to sanctify me and help me to do better. O make me desire more and more to pray to Thee, to read Thy Holy Word, and to receive the Blessed Sacrament of Thy Body and BLOOD*] and help me to keep Thee always in my thoughts, that I may become more and more Thine Own, for JESUS CHRIST's sake. AMEN.

O LORD, have mercy upon the whole
