ABSTRACT OF PUBLIC GENERAL STATUTES.

(1 VICTORIE.)

CAг. 1.-An Act to continue for Six Calendar Months all such Commissions of the Peace as were in force at the time of the Decease of His late Majesty King William the Fourth, and as have not been superseded, determined or made void during the reign of Her present Majesty. [4th Dec. 1837.]

CAP. 2.-An Act for the Support of Her Majesty's Household, and of the Honour and Dignity of the Crown of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. [23rd Dec. 1837.] CAP. 3.-An Act to carry into further Execution the Provisions of an Act for completing the full Payment of Compensation to Owners of Slaves upon the Abolition of Slavery.

[23rd Dec. 1837.] CAP. 4.-An Act to remove Doubts as to summoning Juries at adjourned Quarter Sessions of the Peace.

S. 1. Empowers justices in quarter sessions, and recorders of any city or borough, at any court of quarter sessions, to cause juries to be summoned to attend any adjourned court of quarter sessions, for the despatch of business, in the same manner as they may now be summoned to attend any general quarter session; and such juries to have the same duties and powers as if summoned to attend the general quarter sessions; proviso, that this act shall not affect the 9 Geo. IV. c. 50.

S. 2. Act may be altered, &c. this session.

CAP. 5.-An Act for the Relief of Quakers, Moravians, and Separatists elected to Municipal Offices. [23rd Dec. 1837.]

S. 1. Instead of the declaration required by the 9 Geo. IV. c. 17, Quakers, Moravians, and Separatists may make, on accepting office in any municipal corporation as mayor, alderman, or councillor, the declaration set forth in this act.

S. 2. Such declaration to be of the same force as that contained in the 9 Geo. IV. c. 17.

CAP. 6.—An Act to regulate the Expenses of conveying Prisoners in Ireland. [23rd Dec. 1837.]

CAP. 7.—An Act to enable the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Woods, Forests, Land Revenues, Works, and Buildings, to purchase Ground and Tenements required to complete the Site for the new Houses of Parliament.
