to return praise.

vouchsafed unto

A general Thanksgiving. ALMIGHTY God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and lovingkindness to us and to all men (particularly to those who desirenow to offer up their praises and thanksgiv ings for thy late mercies them). We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but, above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all thy mercies, that our hearts may be unfeignedly thankful; and that we may shew forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives; by devoting ourselves to thy service, and by walking before thee in holiness and righ teousness all our days, according to the gospel of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A concluding Prayer.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast disposed

us at this time with one accord to

make

make our common supplications unto thee; and hast especially encouraged us by thy beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to make known our humble requests unto thee; fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world the knowledge of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen.

One of these valedictory forms of blessing to be used at the discretion of the Minister.

THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all evermore. Amen. 1 Cor. xvi. 23. Philipp. iv. 23.

May the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, make us perfect, strengthen, settle

us.

To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Pet. v. 10, 11.

The LORD bless us and keep us: may he be gracious unto us; and give us peace now and for evermore. Amen. Numb. vi. 24, 25, 26.

May the blessing of Almighty God be with us all evermore. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER,

ON SUCH DAYS AS

THE LORD'S SUPPER

IS ADMINISTERED.

At the beginning of Morning Prayer, the Minister shall read some one or more of these sentences of the Scriptures that follow: and then he shall say that which is written after the said sentences. The Minister and the Congregation standing.

WHEN the wicked man turneth away

from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Ezek. xviii. 27.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and' the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God,

for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah lv. 7.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm li. 17.

Rend your heart and not your garments; and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel ii. 13. To the LORD our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him; neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in his laws which he hath set before us. Dan. ix. 9, 10.

Enter not into judgement with thy servants, O LORD; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. Psalm cxliii. 2.

The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John iv. 23, 24.

DEARLY beloved brethren, the Scripture moveth us in sundry places to

acknow

acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness, before the face of almighty God our heavenly Father, with a lowly, penitent, and obedient heart; to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same by his infinite goodness and mercy. And as we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God, so ought we to do, when we assemble and meet together, to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands, to set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are requisite and necessary as well for the body as the soul. Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here present, to accompany. me with a pure heart and humble voice, unto the throne of the heavenly grace; saying after me:
