A Disquisition on Government

John C. Calhoun was an American political theorist who served as the seventh Vice President of the United States under Andrew Jackson. Calhoun is also remembered for advancing the idea of minority rights in politics and he believed in limited government. Calhoun wrote A Disquisition on Government to emphasize his concern of an oppressive government. Calhoun also discussed issues such as states' rights, and the nullification of slavery.
