Plan No. 1643.

I, Don Vicente Pentado, capt. & surveyer, certify that there was measured and marked off for Don Thomas Urquhart, and assisted by his agent, Don Juan Thebeau, and the witnesses, Don Esteban Ross & Juan Boiret, a piece of land of nine hundred and forty acres, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet the perch, counting hundred plain perches per acre, according to the costum of surveying in this colony,) which form a part of the fifty thousand acres which the said Urquhart bought of the royal hacienda, commanded to be meas ured and estimated per order of the intendent general of this province, the twelfth of August ult., delivered to S'r Don Carlos de Grand-pré, col. of the royal army and governor of these establishments, and subdelegate of the intendance general, through whom I was acquainted with said order and its contents. Said land situated in the district of Baton Rouge, three miles east of Mississi'pi, one mile west of the pra dera San Juan, and thirteen miles and a half north of the fort of Baton Rouge, is limited north by lands belonging to George Mires y racantes lands, south by lands bel. to Margaretta Plunkett, east by these Antonio Mires, and Ricardo Devat, and west by vacant lands. And it was valued by common accord of the four appraisers, to wit: Don Pe dro Allen & Don Felix B. Dumontier, named officially by the gov ernor, and Don D. Heky & Don Huberto Rowell, named by Urquhart, in the presence of the witnesses, at one real & a half in silver for every square acre; to which, having consented, said agent he received it im mediately, and it was delivered to him; and he received it in the same form, dimensions, demarcations, landmarks, and other signs, natural and artificial, which the precedent plan shows.

In witness whereof I sign this with the agent, appraisers, and witnesses in Baton Rouge, the ninth of October of eighteen hundred and three.

I, Don Vicente Pintado, captain and surveyor, certify that there was measured & marked off in favor of Don Thomas Urquhart, assisted by his agent Don Juan Thebeau, and of the witnesses Don Estevan Ross and Juan Goriet, a piece of land of one thousand two hundred and forty-eight acres, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet the perch, counting hundred perches per acre, according to tle costum of surveying,) which are a part of the fifty thousand acres, which Urqu hart bought of the royal hacienda, commanded to be measured and appraised by order of the intendant general of this province, the 12th of August ult., delivered to the S'r Don Carlos de Grand-pré, col. of the royal army, governor of these establishments and sub-delegate of the intendance, through whom I was notified of the order and its contents. Said land is situated in the district of Baton Rouge, six miles and three-quarter' east of Mississi'pi, and ten miles N. N. E.

of the fort; limited in the north and west by vacant lands, in the south by lands granted to Juan Frazer, and in the east with those belonging to the heirs of the late Juan Bocker & to those of the late Juan Gusset; and it was estimated by common accord, by the four ap praisers, Don Pedro Allen & Don Bernardo Dumontier, named officially by the governor, & Don Daniel Heky and Ruberto Rowell, named by the agent, and in presence of above-named witnesses, at one heavy real and a half in silver. To which the agent, having consented, he received forthwith, delivered to him, said land shown in the precedent plan, forming a rectangular parallelogram, whose larger sides are in the direction from east to west, and measure four hundred perches of Paris, as everything is amply shown in the plan, where are also noted the trees and stakes, which serve as landmarks, with other natural and artificial marks.

In witness whereof I sign, with all the above named, in Baton Rouge, the ninth of October of eighteen hundred and three. (Signed)

I, Don Vicente Sebastiano Pintado, captain of cavalry of the legion in Mississipi, surveyor, etc., certify that there was measured & marked off in favor of Don Thomas Urquhart, with the assistance of his agent, Don Juan Thebault, and of the witnesses, Don Estevan Ross, & Don Juan Poret, a piece of land of three thousand nine hundred plane acres, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet of the same city, counting hundred plain perches per acre, according to the costum of surveying in this province,) which are a part of the fifty thousand acres which the interested party bought of the royal estates, commanded to be measured and and appraised by order of the intendantgeneral of this province, the 12th of August ult., delivered to the S'r Don Carlos, de Grand-pré, colonel of the royal army, governor of these establishments, and sub delegate to the intendant-general.

Said land is situated in the district of Baton Rouge, at the right bank of the river Comet, about five miles of his confluence with the river Amet, & eight miles N. E. E. of the fort, bordering north with the river Comet, south with vacant lands, east with lands solicited by the widow Le Roy, west with vacant lands, and with those granted to George Heart. And this land was appraised, by common consent, by the four appraisers, to wit: Don Pedro Allen & Don Felix Beno Dumantier, named officially by the governor, and Don Daniel Heky, and Don Hubert Rowell, named by the agent of the interested party, and in presence of the witnesses, at the rate of one real and a half in silver for every square acre; to which consented the same ag't, & received immediately, delivered to him said land, which is drawn on the precedent plan, and marked the dimensions of its sides in linear perches of Paris, and the directions of its limits, according to the costum of measuring: northeast to east the trees and stakes, which are designed for landmarks, and other natural and artificial marks.

And therewith signed said agent, witnesses, and appraisers, in Baton Rouge, the ninth of October, eighteen hundred and three. (Signed)

I, Don Vicente Sebastiano Pintado, capt. of cavalry, surveyor, etc., certify that there was measured and marked off for Don Thomas Urqu hart, & in presence of his agent, Don Juan Thebeau, a piece of land of six hundred and two plain acres, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet, counting hundred perches per square acre, according to the costum of surveying in this colony,) which form a part of the fifty thousand acres which the said Urquhart bought of the royal estates, commanded to be measured and appraised by the order of the señor intendant-general of this province, the 12th of August ult., delivered to the S'r Don Carlos, Grand-pré col. of the royal army, governor of this establishment, and sub-delegate of the intendantgeneral, through whom I was notified of same order & its contents. Said land is situated in the district of Feliciana, at the east side of that river, and thirteen miles from its confluence with the Mississipi, bordering on the upper part on lands granted to Izael Leonard to Helena Adams and to Policarpo Regillo; on its lower sides on lands granted to Gabriel Blackborn; on its front side it touches on the river Feliciana. And it was appraised by common consent of the ap praisers, to wit: Don Pedro Allen & Don Felix Bernardino Dumontier, named officially by the governor, & Don Daniel Heky & Don Hubert Rowell, named by the agent of the interested party, and in presence of the witnesses Don Estevan Ross and Don Juan Poiret, at the rate of one real and a half silver for each square acre; to which the agent, having conformed himself, he received immediately said land, which was delivered to him, the form of which is shown in the precedent plan, where the trees and stakes are drawn that mark the limits, and other natural and artificial marks.

This was signed by the agent, appraisers, and witnesses, in Baton Rouge, the ninth of October, eighteen hundred and three.

I, Don Vicente Sebastian Pintado, capt. of cavalry, surveyor, etc., certify to have given in possession to Don Thomas Urquhart, through his agent, Don Juan Thebau, assisted by the witnesses Don Esteban

Ross & Juan Poret, a piece of land of ten thousand two hundred sixty-three plain acres, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet the perch, counting hundred perches plain per acre, according to the costum of surveying in this province,) which form a part of the fifty thousand acres which the interested party bought of the royal estates the twelfth of August ult., by the order of the S'r Don Carlos de Grand-pré, col. of the royal army, governor of these forts, & subdelegate of the intendant-general, throug' whom I was notified.

Said land is situated in the jurisdiction of Baton Rouge, on the west side of the river Comet, facing on that river, limited in the north by the brook of Bosque Roxo and vacant lands, south & west likewise by vacant lands, & east by the already-named river, as the precedent plan clearly manifests, where the dimensions of the sides are marked in linear perches of Paris, the directions of the limits, the trees, and stakes which serve as landmarks, and other natural & artificial limits.

Said ten thousand two hundred sixty-three acres were valued by Don Pedro Allen and Don Felix Bernardo Dumontier, appraisers named officially by the s'r governor, & Don Daniel Heky & Don Huberto Rowell, named by the agent of the interested party, and in presence of above named witnesses, at the rate of one real and a half in silver for every square acre; to which consented the agent, and received immediately the lands, which were delivered to him.

In witness whereof this was signed by us, (I, the agent, witnesses, & appraisers,) in Baton Rouge, the ninth of October, eighteen hundred and three.

I. Don Vicente Sebastiano Pintado, captain surveyor, etc., certify to have given in possession to Don Thoman Urquhart, through his agent in this post, Don Juan Thebau, a piece of land of seven thousand acres plain, (measured with the perch of Paris, of eighteen feet the perch, counting hundred perches plain per acre, according to the costum of surveying in this province,) which form a part of the fifty thousand acres bought of the real hacienda, the interested party; commanded to be measured and appraised by order of the intendant-general the twelfth of August ult. Which land is situated in the district and jurisdiction of Baton Rouge, on the east side of the Comet River, about sixteen miles from his confluence with the Amit River. It is limited northeast by vacant lands, south by other lands of the interested party, and west it terminates on the east side of the river Comit, as all is shown clearly in the precedent plan, where the directions of its limits are marked; also the trees, stakes, which serve as landmarks, and other natural & artificial limits. Said seven thousand acres plain were estimated by the four experts named for this purpose, to wit: Don Pedro Allen and Don Felix Bernardo Dumontier, on the part of the real hacienda, & Don Huberto Rowell, & Don Felipe Heky on the interested party, and with assistence of the witnesses, Don Antonio H. Ex. 60- -3

Gros, Don Thomas Valantino. Which experts, by unanimous ac cord, valued the said seven thousand acres at one real and a half in sil ver for every acre. Which, seen by the said agent, he conformed himself with it, and received said lands, which was delivered to him, and signed it, with the above-named appraisers and witnesses, in Baton Rouge, the twelfth of October, eighteen hundred and three.

I, Don Vicente Sebastiano Pintado, capt. and surveyor, certify to have given in possession to Don Thomas Urquhart, through his agent in this port, Don Juan Thebeau, a piece of land of fourteen thousand forty-seven plain acres, (measured with the perch of Paris of eighteen feet, the perch counting hundred plain perches per acre, according to the custom of surveying,) which are a part of the fifty thousand acres which the interested party bought of the royal hacienda; commanded to be measured and valued per order of the intendant-general the twelfth of August ult. Which land situated in the jurisdiction of Baton Rouge, on the east side of the Comet River, nine miles from his confluence with the Ames River is limited north with lands belonging to the interested party; south by lands of Doña Sophia de Josephe & Doña Rosalia de Grande Pré; east by vacant lands and west by the said Comet River; as is clearly seen in the precedent plans where the land is drawn with the dimensions of it sides in linear perche, the directions of its limits, its declension the trees and stakes which serve as land mark and other natural and artificial marks.

Said fourteen thousand forty-seven acres were estimated by the experts named for this purpose to wit: Don Pedro Allen & Don Felix Dumontier on the side of the royal intendants, and Don Huberto Rowell & Phil. Heky named by the interested party; and in asssitance of the witnesses Dn. Antonio Gross & Don Thomas Valantin Dalton, the first witnesses being absent, by common accord valued this land at one real and a half per acre. Which seen by the said agent, he consented and received the land, which was delivered to him; and he signed this with the said appraisers and witnesses in Baton Rouge the thirteenth of the month of October, eighteen hundred and three.
