This Table is formed by comparing the whole number of different scholars registered in each town with the number of children enumerated in January, 1875;i. e., the numbers in column 12 with those in column 8 in the statistical tables of the several Counties, pages 202-217. The very large percentage in some towns results from one or more of the following causes: 1. The attendance of scholars over 16 years of age. 2. The attendance of those under 4 years of age. 3. The attendance of those residing in adjoining towns. 4. The removal of families with children into a town after the enumeration has been made. In preparing this Table, those chilaren who attended other schools than the Public Schools are not reckoned among attendants. In some towns a large proportion of the children are in private schools, as will be seen by column 13 in the tables above mentioned. 97.7 12 108 119 East Windsor, 97.6 36 137 120 Waterbury, 97.6 7 75 121 Bozrah, 97.5 4 119 122 Stonington, 97.5 33 113 123 Glastonbury, 97.4 16 82 124 Middlebury, 97.3 4 143 125 Norwalk, 90.6 28 90.5 24 90.111 89.9 37 89.9 11 89.7 8 103 75 Avon, 36 76 Branford, 54 77 Washington, 61 78 Barkhamsted, 52 79 Kent,79 80 Somers, 77 81 Southbury,. 160 82 Lisbon, 41 83 Bridgewater. 120 84 Windsor,.. 46 85 Woodbury, 26 86 Bloomfield,. 163 87 Colchester, 107 91 Stratford, 73 95 New Milford, 98 96*Plymouth, 96 97 New Canaan, 95 98 Waterford, . 76 99 Suffield, 106 100 Marlborough,. 84 101 Canaan, 63 102 Cheshire, 128 103 Sterling, 71 104 East Lyme, 87 105 Lyme, 110 106 Wethersfield, 80 107 Griswold, 151 108 Middlefield, 122 109 Salisbury, 102 110 Granby, 89 111 Litchfield, 96.7 6 125 132 Beacon Falls,96.7 7 132 133 North Haven, 96.6 19 100 134 Bridgeport,. 96.5 29 124 135 Berlin,. 92.7 18 148 152 Meriden, 92.5 12 147 153 Winchester, 92.4 17 152 154 Greenwich,. 92.3 11 153 155 New Hartford, 92.1 10 162 156 Hartford, 92.0 20 149 157 Westport, 91.9 9 158 158 Enfield, 91.9 38 141 159 Brooklyn, 91.9 15 154 160 Plainfield,. 91.8 32 157 161 Stamford, 89.6 38 97.1 28 121 126 Haddam,.. 89.4 14 97.1 4 112 130 New London,. 96.9 19 138 131 Manchester, 89.1 60 89.0 38 87.4 4 87.1 2 86.9 46 86.9 16 95.3 14 109 136 Windsor Locks,. 95.2 24 118 137 Killingly, 86.8 17 86.7 70 95.1 2 144138 New Britain, 86.6 54 80.9 35 80.8 47 79.8 56 79.1 15 78.6 342 75.6 28 75.2 67 74.8 41 74.7 23 70.2 92 *The new town of Thomaston is included with Plymouth. * The order of the Towns in each County is next given.
