OXFORD:
PRINTED BY I. SHRIMPTON.

THE following Selection of Psalms and Hymns is intended for the use of St. Mary Magdalene Parish; being, with some additions and alterations, a re-arrangement of one already existing. A reprint being called for, this is offered as a substitute; and if it shall be found an improvement, the pains bestowed upon its preparation will be amply repaid. It does not challenge criticism; neither is it published for general adoption; but it is commended, with a prayer for the divine blessing, to the people of St. Mary Magdalene.

To assist the practice of singing, the tunes most commonly sung in St. Mary Magdalene will be added to a part of the impression: and many thanks are due to those who have kindly given their time and thought to this portion of the work.

Feast of St. Luke, 1852.

PSALM I. O.V.

THE man is blest that hath not lent
To wicked men his ear,
Nor led his life as sinners do,
Nor sat in scorners' chair;

But in the law of God the Lord
Doth set his whole delight,
And in the same doth exercise
Himself both day and night.

He shall be like a tree that is
Planted the rivers nigh,
Which in due season bringeth forth
Its fruit abundantly;

Whose leaf shall never fade nor fall,
But flourishing shall stand:
E'en so all things shall prosper well
That this man takes in hand.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
All glory be therefore;

As in beginning was, is now,
And shall be evermore.
