"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."-John xv. 12.

"Oh! what love was the love of our Immanuel! It was no selfish, indolent, inoperative principle; but a love of the purest benevolence, deepest tenderness, and ceaseless action, ever seeking, ever speaking, and ever yearning, in behalf of a Church carried each moment in the centre of his heart."-WINSLOW.

"Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”— Zech. iii. 3, 4.

"Here we read how God took off the filthy garments from Joshua the high priest, and put clean linen upon him. Such is the change that must take place in every soul. No tongue can tell how filthy a soul is by nature. It is black as hell itself. When Mr Whitefield was preaching to the Indians about their sinfulness, he told them that their hearts were as black as their faces.' So it was with the saints in heaven. They were by nature no better, no purer than others. But

now how different !-washed white in the

blood of the Lamb."- Kelso Tract.

"Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Ps. li. 7.

The writer of the Kelso Tracts says, "I was once conversing with a dying woman, and among other things she said this: 'People say there is nothing whiter than snow, but I think there is one thing whiter, and that is, a bloodwashed soul."-Kelso Tracts, White Robes.

"Not my will, but thine, be done."-Luke xxii. 42.

"Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord."-Phil. iii. 8.

"He is truly good who hath great charity; he is truly great who is little in his own estimation, and rates at nothing the summit of worldly honour; he is truly wise who counts all earthly things but as dross, that he may win Christ; ' and he is truly learned who hath learned to abandon his own will, and to do the will of God."—A KEMPIS.
