"Watchfulness discovers the danger, and believing prayer prevents it-it lays the matter at Christ's door. The reason why some are so seldom on their knees, or their hands are but a short while up, and the reason they are so seldom at a throne of grace, and have little to say, or soon tired, is, because they are seldom on their watch-tower."-CARMICHAEL.

APRIL 22.

"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."-Ps. xxxvii. 4.

"He who delighteth in the creature, hath not always 'the desires of his heart' granted, nor is it fit that he should have them; but he who delighteth in God, will desire what he delighteth in, and obtain what he desireth."-BISHOP HORNE.
