OPINIONS OF THE PRESS.

THE last number of the "Little Chief" comes to us bright and charming as a spring lark. It will gladden the little folks like the singing of birds and the opening of flowers--an admirable juvenile monthly, with its delightful pictures and clear print. All the children ought to have it; it also freshens older hearts to look over its pages.-Laporte Union.

HAIL to the Chief, (the LITTLE CHIEF), that in triumph advances from better to better. This is decidedly a most capital magazine, containing stories, poetry, dialogues, puzzles, pictures on every page, and all gotten up in excellent style. Price only 75 cents a year.-Bucyrus (O.) Journal.

WE have been gratified by a careful examination of the LITTLE CHIEF, published at Indianapolis, Ind. It is replete with entertaining and instructive matter for the little ones. It should be warmly welcomed in its monthly visits to the school-room and home circle.-The Methodist, N. Y.

Constitution of the United States.

A CHART of 32 pages. 15x20 inches each; printed in large, clear type, so as to be easily read at a distance of twenty feet rom the eye. It is mounted on a single roller, so as to be suspended on the wall of a School-room, for the use of Teacher and Pupil.

The entire matter of the Constitution is arranged in Tables; each table containing an exhaustive collection of such elements as properly belong to it, and suggested by its title. This ANALYSIS may be used either in connection with or without the Text-book.

A copy of this CHART can be used with great interest and profit by every TEACHERS' INSTITUTE. and in every CLASS-ROOM where children over 12 years old are taught; and it would be invaluable as a work of reference in every Lyceum, Law, Government and Editor's Office. Price $6.00.

ANALYSIS OF CIVIL GOVERNMENT.

DESIGNED TO ACCOMPANY THE

"ANALYSIS OF THE CONSTITUTION."

In Cloth, 12mo, 340 pages. Price $1.50.

In this work the subject of Civil Government is presented Analytically, and is the firrt work published pretending to give a topical and tabular arrangement of the principles of our Government.

We are confident that the Teacher and Educator will find in this work a larger amount of facts, and more useful information, and so presented, as to be better adapted for a popalar class-book, than any other work yet presented to the public

MARKS'

FIRST LESSONS IN GEOMETRY.

OBJECTIVELY PRESENTED, and designed for the use of Primary Classes in Grammar Schools. Academies, &c. In Cloth, 12mo, 156 pages. Price $1. This little book is constructed for the purpose of instructing large classes, and with reference to being used also by teachers who have themselves no knowledge of Geometry.

It is held that this science should be taught in all Primary and Grammar Schools for the same reasons that aply to all other branches.

The elements of Geometry are much easier to learn, and are of more value when learned, than advanced Arithmetic; and if a boy is to leave school with merely a Grammar-school education, he would be better prepared for the active duties of life with a little Arithmetic, and some Geometry, than with more Arith. metic, and no Geometry

Double Elastic Steel Pens.

These Pens combine elasticity of action with smoothness of point not found in other pens, and are a nearer approximation to the real SWAN QUILL than any. thing hitherto invented. They are used in all the principal Commercial Collegia in the United States, and are pronounced by Accountants, Teachers, Officials and Correspondents, the

BEST PENS MANUFACTURED.

We make Fourteen Numbers of Pens, differing in flexibility and fineness of point, adapted to every style of writing.

The subscribers claim a superiority for their CELEBRATED SPENCERIAN PENS on the following grounds:

1st. Durability and Perfection of Action, owing to the great care used in their manufacture by skilled workmen of tried experience, and to the peculiar process of Carbonizing which gives to the points a more perfect degree of hardness than can be found in the generality of Steel Pens.

24. They are endorsed, and what is more, constantly used by all the best Teachers of Penmanship in this country.

3d. Used exclusively in all the first-class Commercial Colleges of the United States and Canadas.

4th. Used by Cashiers, Book-keepers, Tellers, &c., in the Principal Banking Houses from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

5th. Thousands of the Pens are annually used by Government officials in the several departments at Washington, and by the majority of Custom-House officers throughout the States.

6th. Their reputation is so firmly established that every first-class Dealer in Stationery keeps them for sale.

7th. One of the strongest proofs of their great popularity, and undeniable confession to their superiority is that no less than TEN FIRMS have manufactured, or caused to be made Pens similar in style under different names, for which they claim the same qualities and favor as the still unapproached Spencerian.

CAUTION.

The popular and unexcelled “SPENCERIAN STEEL PENS" have been imitated, and altogether inferior articles have been made by an unprincipled Ameri can manufacturer, and sold in some sections of the country, disappointing purchasers and damaging our reputation and interests.

We therefore CAUTION Booksellers aud Stationers against purchasing ANY "Spencerian" Pens which have not our initials, “I. P. B. & Co.,” or, “Ivisou. • Phinney & Co" on each pen.

These PENS will be sent by MAIL to any address in the United States, postage paid, on receipt of price annexed.
