TO THE THIRD EDITION.
The present Edition will, I trust, be found an improvement upon the previous one. consequence of the correction of a number of errors, which it is difficult to avoid even in the most carefully elaborated works, it lays claim to greater accuracy, and has, besides, the advantage of containing a variety of new illustrations, which it is hoped will elucidate the subject more clearly. The work now contains as good an account of Sleep as I am
capable of producing; and it is not probable that any change whatever will be made in future editions, supposing it is fortunate enough to pass through them.
