PREFACE.

THE Compiler acknowledges with gratitude the increasing demand for this publication, which contains a variety of facts and pictorial illustrations for the use of parents and teachers of young children, and from which may be drawn from their infant charge many valuable intellectual and moral lessons.

The Editor begs distinctly to state, that the form of question and answer, or simple narrative, upon which some of the points for lessons are herein compiled, must not be considered as the mode of conducting Training Lessons, but simply present facts and hints suggestive of answers for the tender mind of infants.

The principles of the system of communication and moral training, with the relative and combined uses of the various parts of School Apparatus, are explained and illustrated in these publications, viz.:— "Stow's Training System of Education;" "Stow's Bible Training for Sunday and Day Schools;" and
