Our life is one deep stream of mercies, deep, unfathomed, inexhaustible, unceasing, and all undeserved. Should this be for a moment forgotten when we come before God? Should all his favours day by day, and year by year pass, and we be ungrateful and silent? Will this open the ear of infinite goodness to what we have further to ask for? Though all praise is far unequal to the demand, and all man's praise is stained with sin, yet the grace of gratitude in the soul is God's own work, and He will give increase abundantly on the fruit,ful soil.
