DISTRICT OF PENNSYLVANIA, TO WIT:

BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the third day of June, in the thirtyfifth year of the independence of the United States of America, A. D. 1811, KIMBER & CONRAD, of the said district, have deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof they claim as proprietors, in the words following, to wit:

The Elements of Astronomy: designed for the Use of Students in the University. By the Rev. S. Vince, A. M., F. R. S., Plumian Professor of Astronomy and Experimental Philosophy. The first American edition, corrected and en

larged.

In conformity to the act of the congress of the United States, entitled, “An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned," and also to the act, entitled, " An act supplementary to an act, entitled, An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned,' and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical and other prints."

D. CALDWELL, Clerk of the District of Pennsylvania ·

THE following tract, now first issued from the American press, contains perhaps a more comprehensive collection of astronomical treasure than any other volume of equal size with which our schools are furnished. Some inaccuracies, which had found their way into the Cambridge edition, have been corrected in this; some omissions supplied, and the recent discoveries introduced.

New-Garden, 5th mo. 1811.
