66 ye-abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the • branches : he that abideth in me, and I in “ him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: 6. for without me ye can do nothing. If a man “ abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, “ and is withered ; and men gather them, and 6 cast them into the fire, and they are burned. “ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in “i you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall “ be done unto you. These things have I spoken “ unto you, that my joy might remain in you, " and that your joy might be full. This is my 6 commandment, l'hat ye love one another, as “ I have loved you. Greater love hath no “ man than this, that a man lay down his life “ for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do “ whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I 6 call you not servants; for the servant knoweth

If the world hate you, ye “ know that it hated me before it hated you. “ If ye were of the world, the world would love “ his own: but because ye are not of the “ world, but I have chosen you out of the “.world, therefore the world hateth you. Re“ member the word that I said unto you, The “ servant is not greater than his lord. If they “ have persecuted me, they will also persecute “ you; if they have kept my saying, they will “ keep your's also. But all these things will “ they do unto you for my name's sake, because " they know not him that sent me. If I had “not come and spoken unto them, they had “ not had sin :* but now they have no cloke 66 for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my " Father also. If I had not done among them " the works which none other man did, they “ had not had sin: but now have they both “ seen and hated both me and my Father. “ But this cometh to pass, that the word might 66 be fulfilled that is written in their law, They 66. hated me without a cause. And these things “ will they do unto you, because they have not “ known the Father, nor me. But these things “ have I told you, that when the time shall “ come, ye may remember that I told you of • them. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is ex“pedient for you that I go away: for if I go “ not away, the Comforter will not come unto “ you ; but if I depart, I will send him unto “ you. And when he is comie, he will reprove “ the world of sin, and of righteousness, and “ of judgment: of sin, because they believe “ not on me;" of righteousness, because I go “ to my Father, and ye see me no more; of “ judgment, because the prince of this world “ is judged. “ unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.' - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is “ come, he will guide you into all truth: for 66 he shall not speak of himself; but whatso“ ever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and “ he will shew you things to come." He shall “ glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, “ and shall shew it unto you. All things that " the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, so that he shall take of mine, and shew it unto “ you.
