Preces Matutinæ. Sunday Morning. On awaking, say, Hymn 3, Pt. 2, A. and M., “ Glory to Thee." On arising, say, In the Name of the LORD, I arise. Thanks be to Thee for this new day. Grant me to spend it in Thee and for Thee. While dressing, say humbly this Litany, Glory be to GOD the FATHER, Who created us : Glory be to GOD the SON, Who redeemed us : Glory be to GOD the HOLY GHOST, Who sanctifieth us: All love, all glory, all thanksgiving, be to the Holy and Undivided TRINITY, now and for ever more. Glory be to Thee, O GOD, Who givest me sleep to recruit my weakness, and to remit the toils of this fretful flesh. To this day, and all days, a perfect, holy, peaceful, healthy, sinless course, I Vouchsafe, O LORD. The Angel of peace, a faithful guide and guardian of souls and bodies, to encamp around me, and ever to prompt what is salutary, Vouchsafe, O LORD. Pardon and remission of all sins, and of all offences, Vouchsafe, O LORD. To our souls what is good and convenient, and peace to the world, Vouchsafe, O LORD. Repentance and strictness for the residue of our lives, and health and peace to the end, Vouchsafe, O Lord. Whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever just, whatever pure, whatever lovely, whatever of good report, if there be any virtue, if any praise; such thoughts, such deeds, Vouchsafe, O LORD. The Christian temper, with all its charities and courtesies, the temper of self-devotion to some worthy cause, of self-effacement for some high end, of fortitude and forgiveness, of purity and pitifulness, of generosity and gentleness, Vouchsafe, O LORD. The sympathy which can move and lift the hearers, the insight into spiritual facts which can present them as luminous realities, and the enthusiasm for a sacred cause which can fire the soul with a passionate devotion, Vouchsafe, O LORD. A Christian close, without sin, without shame, and, should it please Thee, without pain, and a good answer at the dreadful and fearful Judgment Seat of JESUS CHRIST, our LORD, Vouchsafe, O LORD. When dressed, stand at a prie-dieu, and say, In the Name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST. Amen. O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh come. Alleluia. THE HYMN.
