For 1872, the vote returned by the regular (Warmoth) Board of Canvassers is given for Louisiana, and that returned by the Secretary of State of Arkansas for that State. The number of citizens in the several States, entitled to vote, according to the census of 1870, was 8,307,305. The actual vote in 1872 was 6,457,315, and therefore, allowing for the mcrease in population in two years, it is evident that over 2,000,000 citizens entitled to vote did not vote for President in November, 1872. The whole number of electoral votes is 366. Necessary to a choice, 184. Election Returns, BY STATES, COUNTIES, AND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS. ALABAMA. CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS.
