Under the law same was referred to the Committee on Masonic Jurisprudence. Past Grand Master Ball (4) moved that the proposed amendment be printed and distributed among the members during the day. Carried. Same TELLERS APPOINTED. The Grand Master announced the appointment of the following brethren to act as tellers during the election of Grand Officers: W. F. Fidlar (37), W. E. Randall (145), G. W. Barrette (37), F. O. Grandstaff (318), John Everall (72), William Zumhof (125), S. F. Meyers (380), and D. S. Eldridge (271). Jurisprudence REPORT ON. Brother Neal (208) presented a partial report on Masonic Jurisprudence, and moved the adoption of the report, save Section 227, which, under the law, lies over until tomorrow. On question of adoption, same was Concurred in. TO THE MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND LODGE OF IOWA: "Second. OUR committee to whom was referred the resolution, "that every application for membership by demit shall be accompanied by a statement of facts of personal history, as follows: "First. Date of birth....... Place of birth...... Town and state or...... Town and province or country... "Third. Initiated-Date... "Fourth. Passed-Date.. "Fifth. Raised-Date...... Beg leave to report that in our opinion the same is not necessary, and the law in respect to admission to the lodge by demit is now sufficient. In the matter of the following resolution, repealing Section 227 of the Masonic Code and enacting a substitute therefor, as follows: "Resolved, That Section 227 of the Masonic Code of Iowa be and the same is hereby repealed, and the following enacted in lieu thereof: "SECTION 227. TRUSTEES OF GRAND LODGE-WHO ARE.-There is hereby created a Board of Trustees of the Grand Lodge of Iowa of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, consisting of three members who shall be appointed by the Grand Master, and shall hold their office for a term of six years, except as herein provided. At the present session (1901) of the Grand Lodge the incoming Grand Master shall appoint one Trustee for two years, one for four years, and one for six years, and at the session in each odd-numbered year hereafter he shall appoint one Trustee for a term of six years. The title of all the property of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, real and personal, shall be vested in said Trustees and their successors in office, in trust for said Grand Lodge, and the duties of said Trustees in regard thereto, and in other respects, are as provided in its laws and regulations." We have had the same under consideration, and beg to report the same back to the Grand Lodge, with the recommendation that the same do pass. Respectfully submitted, C. W. NEAL, Committee. TO THE MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND LODGE OF IOWA: Your Committee on Masonic Jurisprudence, to whom was referred the interrogatories of Mishna Lodge, No. 565, as follows: "In determining the territorial jurisdiction of subordinate lodges, under that portion of Section 66 which provides that when any part of any city or incorporated town is equi-distant from two lodges and such city or incorporated town has no lodge, such lodges shall have concurrent jurisdiction over such city or incorporated town. "First. Is the starting point for measurement from the two lodge-rooms, or the center of the town or city where each of the said lodges are located, or from the boundary line nearest to the disputed territory? "Second. Is the measurement to be made to the center of the city or town in dispute, or to the boundary nearest the town or city where the lodges are situated, or to what part or points in said disputed city or town should such measurement be made? "Third. If it should be ascertained that only one point in the disputed city or town was equi-distant from the two lodges, such point being in the extreme corner of such disputed territory, would both lodges have concurrent jurisdiction?" Beg leave to report that we have had the same under consideration, and report our conclusions as follows: The provisions of Section 66 of the Code, so far as they relate to the questions under consideration, are as follows: "Provided, that where any part of any city or incorporated town is equi-distant from two lodges, and such city or incorporated town has no lodge, such lodges shall have concurrent jurisdiction over such city or incorporated town." There seems to be no ambiguity in this provision. It provides that if any part of the city or incorporated town in which the applicant resides is equi-distant from two lodges such lodges shall have concurrent jurisdiction. Therefore, we answer: First. The starting point is from the lodges and not from the center of the city or town where said lodges are located. Second. The measurement is not to be made to or from the center of town or city in dispute (that is the city or town in which the applicant resides), but the provision is where any part of such city or incorporated town is equi-distant from the two lodges, then such lodges have concurrent jurisdiction. Third. If it should be ascertained that only one point in the disputed city or incorporated town is equi-distant from the two lodges, both lodges would have concurrent jurisdiction, regardless of the fact that such point may be in the extreme corner of such disputed territory. Respectfully submitted, C. W. NEAL, Committee. RESOLUTION - UNITED STATES FLAG. Past Grand Master Ball (4) offered the following resolution, and moved its adoption. Same was Unanimously adopted. Resolved, That the Grand Tyler be instructed to purchase a United States flag for the Grand Lodge, at an expense not exceeding $50, and that such flag be carried at the head of the lines in all public processions, and displayed in the East at all sessions of the Grand Lodge. Resolved further, That the Finance Committee be instructed to report an appropriation of $50 for the purchase of such flag. CALLED FROM LABOR. The Grand Master called the Grand Lodge from labor to refreshment until 1:45 P. M. RAND Lodge was called to labor at 1:45 P. M. ORDER OF THE DAY. The special order of the day, in accordance with the Code, being election of officers, the Grand Master having announced his tellers prior to the closing of the morning session, proceeded at once with the election of Grand Officers, which resulted in the following brethren being elected for the ensuing Masonic year: LEWIS JACKSON BAKER (16), Ottumwa, Most Worshipful Grand Master.
