That species of connection or definition, which we call possession, and which we express by the pronouns my, thy, &c., is expressed in Greek by a particle that serves to define or connect. When the two words so connected are of a particular nature, their connection instantly suggests to the fancy the idea of possession, though the particle that connects them has in itself no such idea.
