étonné de ce qu'il voyoit; et comme il s'approchoit pour considérer ce que c'étoit, la voix du Seigneur fui fut adressée;

32 Qui lui dit: Je suis le Dieu de tes pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob. Et Moïse tout tremblant n'osoit considérer ce que c'étoit.

33 Alors le Seigneur lui dit: Ote les souliers de tes pieds; car le lieu où tu es est une terre sainte.

34 J'ai vu, j'ai vu l'affliction de mon peuple qui est en Egypte, et j'ai entendu leur gémissement, et je suis descendu pour les délivrer. Viens donc maintenant, et je t'enverrai en Egypte.

35 Ce Moïse qu'ils avoient rejeté, en disant: Qui t'a établi prince et juge? c'est celui que Dieu envoya pour prince et pour libérateur, sous la conduite de l'ange qui lui étoit apparu dans le buisson.

36 C'est celui qui les tira de là, en faisant des prodiges et des miracles en Egypte, dans la Mer Rouge, et au désert, pendant qua

rante ans.

37 C'est ce Moïse qui a dit aux enfans d'Israël: Le Seigneur votre Dieu vous suscitera un prophète comme moi, d'entre VOS frères: Ecoutezle.

38 C'est lui qui, lorsque le peuple fut assemblé au desert, s'entretenoit avec l'ange qui lui parloit sur la montagne de Sina; c'est lui qui fut avec nos pères, et qui a reçu les paroles de vie pour nous les donner.

39 Nos pères ne voulurent point lui obéir, mais ils le rejetèrent, et retournèrent de leur cœur en Egypte ;

wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,

32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is holy ground.

34 I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

35 This Moses, whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer, by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

37 This is that Moses which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

38 This is he that was in the church in the wilderness, with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers; who received the lively oracles to give unto

us:

39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

40 Saying unto Aaron, Make

des Dieux qui marchent devant nous; car pour ce Moïse qui nous a tirés du pays d'Egypte, nous ne savons ce qui lui est arrivé.

41 Alors ils firent un veau d'or, et ils offrirent des sacrifices à l'idole, et se réjouirent dans les ouvrages de leurs mains.

42 C'est pourquoi Dieu se détourna d'eux, et les abandonna à servir l'armée du ciel, comme il est écrit dans le livre des prophètes: Maison d'Israël, est-ce à moi que vous avez offert des victimes et des sacrifices durant qua rante ans au désert?

43. Vous avez porté le tabernacle de Moloch, et l'astre de votre dieu Remphan, qui sont des figures que vous avez faites pour les adorer; c'est pourquoi je vous transporterai au-delà de Babylone.

44 Le tabernacle du témoignage à été avec nos pères au désert, comme avoit ordonné celui qui avoit dit à Moïse, de le faire selon le modèle qu'il avoit vu.

45 Et nos pères l'ayant reçu, l'emportèrent sous la conduite de Josué, au pays qui étoit possédé par les nations que Dieu chassa de devant nos pères, jusqu'aux jours de David;

46 Qui trouva grace devant Dieu, et qui lui demanda, qu'il pût bâtir une demeure au Dieu de Jacob.

47 Et Salomon lui bâtit un temple.

48 Mais le Très-Haut n'habite point dans des temples faits par la main des hommes, comme le prophète le dit:

49 Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre est mon marchepied: Quelle maison me bâtiriez-vous, dit le Seigneur, ou quel seroit le lieu de mon repos ?

41 And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

42. Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven: as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?

43 Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.

44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had

55 Mais Etienne étant rempli du Saint-Esprit, et ayant les yeux attachés au ciel, vit la gloire de Dieu, et Jésus qui étoit à la droite de Dieu.

56 Et il dit: Voici, je vois, les cieux ouverts, et le Fils de l'homme qui est à la droite, de Dieu.

57 Alors ils poussèrent de grands cris, ils se bouchèrent les oreilles, et ils se jetèrent tous, ensemble sur lui;

58 Et l'ayant traîné hors de la ville, ils le lapidèrent, et les témoins mirent leurs habits aux pieds d'un jeune homme nommé Saul.

59 Et pendant qu'ils lapidoient Etienne, il prioit et disoit: Seigneur Jésus, reçois mon esprit !

60 Puis s'étant mis à genoux, il cria à haute voix: Seigneur, ne leur impute point ce péché! Et quand il eut dit cela, il s'endormit,

50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

51 Ye stiffnecked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers :

53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.

54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory, of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.

56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with, one ac cord,

58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.

59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus receive my spirit.

60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge! And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

mort d'Etienne; et en tems-là il s'éleva une grande persécution contre l'église de Jérusalem; et tous les fidèles, excepté les apôtres, furent dispersés par les quartiers de la Judée et de la Samarie.

2 Et quelques hommes pieux emportèrent Etienne pour l'ensel'ensevelir, et ils firent un grand deuil sur lui.

3 Mais Saul ravageoit l'église, entrant dans les maisons; et traînant par force les hommes et les femmes, il les faisoit mettre en prison.

4 Ceux donc qui furent dispersés alloient de lieu en lieu, et ils annonçoient la parole de Dieu.

5 Philippe donc étant descendu à la ville de Samarie, leur prêcha Jésus-Christ.

6 Et le peuple étoit attentif d'un commun accord à ce que Philippe disoit, en écoutant, et en voyant les miracles qu'il faisoit.

7 Car les esprits immondes sortoient de plusieurs qui en étoient possédés, en jetant de grands cris; et beaucoup de paralytiques et d'impotens furent guéris;

8 Ce qui causa une grande joie dans cette ville.

9 Or il y avoit auparavant dans la même ville un homme nommé Simon, qui exerçoit la magie; et remplissoit d'étonnement le peuple de Samarie, se faisant passer pour un grand personnage.

10 Tous lui étoient attachés, depuis le plus petit jusqu'au plus

4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did,

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

8 And there was great joy in that city.

9 But there was a certain man called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the great

12 Mais quand ils eurent cru à Philippe, qui leur annonçoit ce qui concerne le royaume de Dieu, et le nom de Jésus-Christ, ils furent baptisés, tant les hommes que les femmes.

13 Et Simon lui-même crut aussi; et après avoir été baptisé, il ne quittoit point Philippe ; et voyant les prodiges et les grands miracles qui se faisoient, il étoit tout hors de lui-même.

14 Cependant les apôtres, qui étoient à Jérusalem, ayant appris que ceux de Samarie avoient reçu la parole de Dieu, ils leur envoyèrent Pierre et Jean;8

15 Qui y étant descendus prièrent pour eux, afin qu'ils reçus sent le Saint-Esprit.

16 Car il n'étoit point encore descendu sur aucun d'eux; mais ils avoient été seulement baptisés au nom du Seigneur Jésus.

17 Alors les apôtres leur imposèrent les mains, et ils reçurent le Saint-Esprit.

18 Mais Simon voyant que le Saint-Esprit étoit donné par l'imposition des mains des apôtres, il leur offrit de l'argent, et leur dit:

19 Donnez-moi aussi ce pouvoir, que tous ceux à qui j'imposerai les mains, reçoivent le Saint-Esprit.

20 Mais Pierre lui dit: Que ton argent périsse avec toi, puisque tu as cru que le don de Dieu s'acquéroit avec l'argent!

21 Tu n'as point de part ni rien à prétendre en cette affaire; car

11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and

women.

13 Then Simon himself believed also; and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

14 Now when the apostles, which were at Jerusalem, heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

16 For as yet he was fallen upon none of them; only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy

Ghost.

20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy
