15 Because the law worketh wrath : for where no law is, there is no transgression.

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be "by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham P who is the father of us all,

GAL. iii. 10, 19, 23: For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made.-Before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 1 JOHN, iii. 4: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law for sin is the transgression of the law. do. v. 17: All unrighteousness is sin. n See on ROм. iii. 24.

20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

23 Now it was not "written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;"

grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. do. iii. 5, 7: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
