8 Here will I meet the hungry poor,
And fill their souls with living bread;
Sinners that wait before My door,
With sweet provision shall be fed.

4 "In robes of true salvation clad,
My priests, My ministers shall shine;
The saints, in Me their SAVIOUR, glad,
Shall shout with ecstasy divine."

5 JESUS shall see a num'rous seed

Born here, t' uphold His glorious Name; His crown shall flourish on His head, While all His foes are cloth'd with shame!

Psalm CXXXIII.

Blessedness of Christian Unity.

BEHOLD, how good a thing
It is to dwell in peace!
How pleasing to our King
This fruit of righteousness,

- When brethren all in one agree!
Who knows the joys of unity!

When all are sweetly join'd,

(True followers of the Lamb,)
The same in heart and mind,

And think and speak the same;
And all in love together dwell,
The comfort is unspeakable.

Where unity takes place,

The joys of Heav'n we prove :
This is the Gospel-grace,

The Unction from above,
The Spirit on all believers shed,

Descending swift from CHRIST-our Head.

Where unity is found,

The sweet anointing grace
Extends to all around,

And consecrates the place;
To ev'ry waiting soul it comes,
And fills it with divine perfumes.

Grace ev'ry morning new,

And ev'ry night we feel
The soft refreshing dew,

That falls on Hermon's hill!

On Sion it doth sweetly fall;
of one descends on all.

The grace

In Him when brethren join,

And follow after

peace,

The fellowship divine

He promises to bless;

His chiefest graces to bestow,

Where two or three are met below.

[blocks in formation]

In fellowship are giv'n,

To Sion's chosen race,

The citizens of Heav'n:

He fills them with the choicest store,

He gives them life for evermore.

Psalm CXXXIX.

The Omnipresence of God

all my vast concerns with Thee,
In vain my soul would try

To shun Thy presence, LORD, or flee
The notice of Thine eye.

2 LORD, where shall guilty souls retire,
Forgotten and unknown?

In Hell they meet Thy dreadful fire,
In Heaven Thy glorious throne.

3 Should I suppress my vital breath,
To 'scape the wrath divine,

Thy voice would break the bars of death, And make the grave resign.

4 If, wing'd with beams of morning light, I fly beyond the west,

Thy hand, which must support my flight, Would soon betray my rest.

5 If o'er my sins I think to draw The curtains of the night,

Those flaming eyes that guard Thy law Would turn the shades to light.

6 The beams of noon, the midnight hour, Are both alike to Thee:

O may I ne'er provoke that pow'r
From which I cannot flee!

Psalm CXXXIX.

The Omnipresence of God.

1 LORD, Thou hast search'd and seen me thro*;
Thine eye commands with piercing view
My rising and my resting hours,
My heart and flesh with all their pow'rs.

2 My thoughts, before they are my own,
Are to my GOD distinctly known;
He knows the words I mean to speak,
Ere from my op'ning lips they break.

3 Within Thy circling pow'r I stand;
On ev'ry side I find Thy hand :
Awake, asleep, at home, abroad,
I am surrounded still with GOD.

4 O may these thoughts possess my breast,
Where'er I rove, where'er I rest!
Nor let my weaker passions dare
Consent to sin, for GOD is there.

5 LORD! search my soul, try ev'ry thought:
Though my own heart accuse me not
Of walking in a false disguise,

I beg the trial of thine eyes.

6 Doth secret mischief lurk within?
Do I indulge some unknown sin?
O turn my feet whene'er I stray,
And lead me in Thy perfect way.

Psalm CXLV.

Daily Thanksgiving.

1 MY GOD! my King! Thy various praise
Shall fill the remnant of my days;
Thy grace employ my humble tongue
Till death and glory raise the song.

2 The wings of every hour shall bear
Some thankful tribute to Thine ear;
And ev'ry setting sun shall see
New works of duty done for Thee.

3 Thy truth and justice I'll proclaim:
Thy bounty flows, an endless stream;
Thy mercy swift; Thine anger slow,
But dreadful to the stubborn foe.

4 Thy works with sovereign glory shine,
And speak Thy majesty divine;

Let Britain round her shores proclaim
The sound and honour of Thy Name.

5 Let distant times and nations raise
The long succession of Thy praise;
And unborn ages make my song
The joy and labour of their tongue.

6 But who can speak Thy wondrous deeds?
Thy greatness all our thoughts exceeds!
Vast and unsearchable Thy ways!
Vast and immortal be Thy praise!
