Senator Lindley introduced Senate Bill No. 57 entitled:

A bill for an act to amend section 1 of an act entitled "An act to amend the twelfth section of an act entitled 'An act touching the relation of guardian and ward,' approved June 9, 1852," approved February 21, 1863, and declaring an emergency.

The bill was read a first time by title and referred to Committee on Judiciary A.

Senator Lochard introduced Senate Bill No. 58 entitled:

A bill for an act exempting honorably discharged soldiers, sailors and marines from the payment of a poll tax.

A bill for an act concerning the Indiana World War Memorial and the duties of its trustees.

Senator Shank introduced Senate Bill No. 61 entitled:

A bill for an act authorizing the boards of commissioners of counties having a population of not less than twelve thousand and not more than sixteen thousand, as shown by the last preceding United States census, and having an assessed valuation of not less than twentyfive million dollars ($25,000,000), at the time of the last real estate assessment, to purchase or otherwise acquire lands for park purposes, providing for the right of petition, notices and remonstrance, and prescribing how parks shall be paid for, and providing that lands thus acquired may be conveyed and transferred to the State of Indiana for park purposes, and the manner of making such coneyances and transfers.

The bill was read a first time by title and referred to Committee on Natural Resources.

Senator Shank introduced Senate Bill No. 62 entitled:

A bill for an act prohibiting the installation, construction, operation and maintenance of places of amusement, eating or refreshment stands

or dance halls or pavilions at places within eighty rods of the boundary line of any state park, prescribing the powers of the department of conservation in connection therewith, and fixing penalties for the violation thereof.

The bill was read a first time by title and referred to Committee on Public Morals.

The chair handed down House Enrolled Act No. 186 vetoed by Governor Warren T. McCray at the 73d session of the General Assembly of Indiana for proper action.

Question, Shall House Enrolled Act No. 186, of the 73d session, pass the Governor's veto notwithstanding?

House Enrolled Act No. 186 has received a constitutional majority notwithstanding the Governor's veto, and has passed. The bill shail be returned to the House.

Mrs. Albert J. Beveridge extended an invitation to all the wives of the Senators for a tea on Thursday afternoon, January 22d, at her home.

Senator Holmes called up Senate Bill No. 12 for second reading entitled:

A bill for an act concerning the payment, during the year of redemption, of taxes and assessments upon real estate sold under execution or at a judicial sale.

Senator Moorhead called up Senate Joint Resolution No. 1 for second reading entitled:

A joint resolution requesting the congress of the United States to appropriate funds to carry out certain recommendations of the Chief

of Staff of the United States Army made in furtherance of the National Defense Act of nineteen hundred and twenty.

Senator Sweeney called up Senate Bill No. 19 for second reading entitled:

A bill for an act providing for remonstrances by property holders in proceedings for the construction of sidewalks, sewers and for street and alley improvements in cities of the fifth class, and in incorporated towns.

entitled:

A bill for an act authorizing the voluntary admission of persons to and temporary detention in the village for epileptics, providing for their care and treatment, providing for the payment of the cost thereof in certain cases, and authorizing extensions of the hospital service by the establishment of clinics at the village for epileptics and the school for feeble-minded youth.

A bill for an act to prohibit the possession, distribution and sale of foods, drinks, preparations and mixtures containing methyl or wood alcohol.

SENATE MOTION.

Senator Chambers offered the following motion:

MR. PRESIDENT:

I move that the secretary of the Senate be instructed to prepare a typewritten calendar of the bills and resolutions now before the Senate and have sufficient number of copies multigraphed so that each Senator and officer of the Senate may have a copy. The same to be laid on the desks of each Senator by the time the Senate convenes on Tuesday, January 20th. And that a similar calendar be made for Thursday Morning, January 22d.
