But it remains for us to examine more carefully the world program that they propose, to see if their methods are equal to the emergency, and are likely to succeed. There is no doubt that in our world many things need remedying; the chief question is, Can we trust to the measures proposed by Socialism for the transformation of human society? Can we be quite sure that the remedial measures, if adopted, will not bring about a condition of affairs even worse than the conditions now complained of?
