Erzählung.

Die Ameise und der Leuchtkäfer.

Eine Ameise ging einst spät nach Hause. Es war sehr finster und kein Stern ließ sich am Himmel blicken. Da traf sie auf ihrem Wege einen Leuchtkäfer, dessen funkelndes Licht gleich einer Laterne ihren dunkeln Pfad erhellte. Darüber war sie sehr erfreut und sprach zu dem Leuchtkäfer: „Schönen Dank, Herr Nachbar, für dein Licht; dasselbe thut mir gute Dienste."

,,Was," rief der eitle Käfer,,,du machst Gebrauch von meinem Lichte? Das bulde ich nicht." Sogleich verbarg er sein Licht.

Ein Wanderer, welcher sich ebenfalls über den leuchtenden Käfer gefreut und ihn neugierig betrachtet hatte, zog nun auch im Dunkeln seinen Weg. Da traf sein Fuß den Leuchtkäfer und zertrat ihn.
