fers of property taxable? The Taxable Transfer Law answers such questions.

The laws relating to the Christian Sabbath suffer constant encroachments. The barrier against its foes is the Penal Code. The statutes relating to marriage and separation have recently been amended. We can not over estimate the importance of having a correct knowledge of these.

The appendix also contains a valuable feature. A number of forms necessary in the transaction of the business of corporations are printed in full.

Throughout the work we have recognized that the bare statutes themselves are not a sufficient reliance. To supplement and explain them we have added as precedents court references and interpretations in actual cases under each section. The aim of the volume is to render practical aid to clergymen and boards of trustees in the transaction of business which must conform to the laws of the State. Its usefulness, we hope, will be limited to no single denomination.

As an authority, it is worthy of most implicit confidence, having been edited by such well-known attorneys at law as Robert C. Cumming and Frank B. Gilbert, of Albany, assistants of the Commissioners of Statutory Revision, and published by the old and reliable law publishing house of Banks & Brothers of the same city.

Utica, N. Y., January 1, 1896.

H. E. WAUGH.
