ARTICLE 7.-LIBRARY AND HISTORICAL BOARD.

13785. Statistics-Duties of local officials-Penalty.-28. It shall be the duty of every state, county, township, city, town, judicial or other public officer of this state and of each and every officer or person having in his charge or custody or capable of supplying, or required to collect, and compile the information which may be required by the library and historical department or by any division thereof, for any of the purposes contemplated in this act, or by any other provision of law, to supply such information promptly at the request of the department or of any division thereof, whether such request be oral or by letter or circular or by the filling out of blank forms provided for that purpose by the department or by any division thereof. Any such person or officer who shall fail or refuse to furnish any such information so requested within thirty days after the making of such request shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25) and not more than two hundred dollars ($200).

13786. Co-operation with educational institutions.-29. The department or any of its divisions may co-operate with any of the educational institutions of the state in any manner and to any extent which may be approved by the board.

2507. Library books-Defacing.-428. Whoever, having access to, or being in possession of any book, magazine, newspaper, manuscript, map, chart, plan, printing, engraving, photograph or other literary property of any library organized under the laws of this state or belonging to any educational institution in this state, shall wilfully or mischievously cut, mark, mutilate, deface, write in or upon the same, or otherwise injure the same, or procure the same to be so injured; or whoever shall wilfully or mischievously injure or deface any book, plate or library mark, shall, on conviction, be fined not less than ten dollars nor more than one hundred dollars.
