THE EGYPT EXPLORATION FUND

President:

SIR JOHN EVANS, K.C.B., D.C.L., LL.D., F.R.S., F.S.A.

The Egypt Exploration Fund was founded in 1882 and incorporated in 1888. Its object is to make explorations and excavations in Egypt as a means of throwing light on its history, religion, arts, literature, geography, manners, and customs. In each winter, during the last fifteen years at least, one party of competent explorers and Egyptologists, including such well-known investigators as Mons. E. Naville and Prof. W. M. Flinders Petrie, has been sent to Egypt at the expense of the Fund.

The discovery of Pithom-Succoth, one of the "store-cities " built by the forced labour of the Hebrews during the Oppression, and of Naukratis, the earliest seat of Hellenic civilisation in the Delta, the clearing of the Temple of Queen Hatshepsu at Deir-el-Bahari, and the exploration of the Royal Tombs at Abydos have resulted from the enterprise of the Fund.

Full accounts of all the undertakings have been printed in some twenty volumes of Memoirs, which have been issued to the Members of the Fund in return for their subscriptions.

An Archæological Report for each season, and a Report of the Annual Meeting, are sent gratuitously to all subscribers in each section.

The Fund has received most extensive support from the citizens of the United States of America, the centre of its organisation being in Boston, Mass.

The antiquities found, including papyri, after the selection has been made for the museum at Cairo, are distributed among public museums in the British Empire, in the United States of America, and elsewhere, so far as possible in proportion to the contributions of each locality.

The Annual Subscription to each Department of the Fund is not less than £1 (or $5), and in each case a Donation of £25 (or $125) constitutes life-membership. Each subscription carries with it the right to one free copy of the annual volume of the Department concerned.

SEA-SICKNESS IS PREVENTABLE

An Eminent London Physician has, after several years of research and trial, perfected an absolute preventative of Sea-Sickness and Train Sickness. These distressing conditions arise from an irritation of the pneumogastric nerve acting directly through the brain upon the stomach. Yanatas tranquillises the entire nervous system and prevents Sea-Sickness. This is no mere theorising. Many members of the Royal Families of England and most other European countries have repeatedly used Yanatas and been saved from Sea-Sickness.
