It is a north-of-Europe The average world rice crop is 130 to 140 billion lbs. a year. The largest exporters are British India, Indo-China, and Thailand (Siam). The farm population on April 1, 1940, was estimated by the U. S. Bureau of the Census at 30,475,206, as compared with 30,445,350 in 1930 and 31,614,269 in 1920. The Bureau says that "a part of the explanation for the lack of growth of the farm population lies in the fact that farm practices are becoming more efficient, so that smaller and smaller numbers of workers on our farmland areas are able to produce all of the products that can be marketed. "Another factor is the decline during recent years in the exportation of certain farm products." Cane sugar figures 1923-24 include Louisiana and Texas: 1924-25 to 1928-29, Louisiana only; beginning 1929-30, Louisiana and Florida. Beet sugar figures mostly show refined sugar. which is a disaccharide having the formula C12H22O11. Made from sugarcane, Beet sugar is also sucrose, a disaccharide, C12H22O11. Made from sugarbeets. Maple sugar is substantially sucrose, C12H22O11, its higher price being due to its characteristic maple flavor. Corn sugar is a monosaccharide, with the formula, C6H12O6, its chemical name being dextrose, or glucose. Made from corn starch.
