As the returns relating to Masonic Lodges in the several counties in this state, have been so imperfect and incomplete; and as new elections in all, or most of them, are about to take place; and as so much space has been unexpectedly devoted to other matter, the Publisher has deemed it expedient to omit them entirely,

State Prison at Sing Sing, in the town of Mount Pleasant and county of Westchester.

Preparations for the erection of the buildings and the permanent establishment of this prison at Sing Sing, were commenced in May, 1825, and the buildings are now all completed. The labour has all been done by the convicts. Its full operation commenced on the 1st day of January, 1830, in accordance with the existing State-Prison Law.

MILITIA OF THE STATE.

The Militia of the State of New-York consists of three Brigades and seven regiments of horse-artillery; three divisions, six brigades, twenty-two regiments, and one squadron of cavalry; four divisions, nine brigades, thirty-three regiments, and one battalion of artillery; twenty-eight divisions, fifty-eight brigades, two hundred and thirty-nine regiments, and twelve battalions of infantry; six regiments, and four battalions of light-infantry; and two divisions, four brigades, twenty-three regiments, and four battalions of riflemen.
