PREFACE. y favourable reception which the Christian public n to the "Memoir and Remains" of the author, Rev. Andrew A. Bonar, has induced the Editor Volume, with the sanction and approbation of lfriend of great eminence and piety, intimately ed with the author and his writings, and by whom ter part of the work has been revised, to publish Iditional Remains, consisting of a selection from the Sermons and Lectures delivered by Mr. M'Cheyne ourse of his ministry. Like those annexed to Mr. Memoir, they are printed from the author's MS. ritten as preparations for the pulpit, but not inFor publication, or revised by him with that view. volume contains specimens of Discourses delivered e years of the author's ministry; and the places and delivery are given at the close of each Discourse, r they have been marked. The demand for their publication by members of his flock and other friends, many of whom own him as their spiritual father, has been loud and urgent. To all such the book will be acceptable, as helping "to stir up their pure minds by way of remembrance;" and, notwithstanding many imperfections, which, in the circumstances of its publication, have been unavoidable, the Editor hopes that, by the blessing of God, it may be useful to others also into whose hands it may fall.
