The entrance of Rumania into the world war calls attention anew to the picturesque figure of her King. Born in 1865, he has just passed the half-century milestone. He is the nephew of the late King, Carol I, whom he succeeded on the death of the latter in 1914

THE BISHOP POTTER MEMORIAL PULPIT IN THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN THE DIVINE, NEW YORK CITY

The picture shows the figure of St. John the Baptist, at one side of the stairway leading to the pulpit. The pulpit, which is one of the largest and finest in America, was donated by Mrs. Russell Sage. It was designed by Henry Vaughan, of Boston, and is built of Tennessee marble. It was dedicated September 10

A MEMORIAL TO LORD ROBERTS ERECTED IN GLASGOW This striking statue of Lord Roberts was recently unveiled in Glasgow by the Countess Roberts, the great soldier's daughter, in the presence of a distinguished company, which included 140 veterans who had fought under Lord Roberts in various campaigns, including the Indian Mutiny, Abyssinia, and Afghanistan

THE MEMORIAL AT ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S BIRTHPLACE AT HODGENVILLE, KENTUCKY
The Lincoln Birthplace was recently presented as a gift to the Nation by the Lincoln Farm Association. President Wilson made an address on the occasion. The
photograph shows the audience on the steps of the Memorial Building, which bears this inscription: "Here, over the log cabin where Abraham Lincoln was born,
destined to preserve the Nation and to free the slave, a grateful people have dedicated this Memorial to unity, peace, and brotherhood among these States"

HONORING THE SERVICES TO AMERICA OF THE MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE

To honor the French nobleman who fought for America's freedom in the Revolution, and incidentally to testify to their appreciation of France's attitude in the
present war, a multitude of Americans joined in celebrating the 159th anniversary of Lafayette's birth, September 6. The principal celebration was held in the City
Hall, New York, where Lafayette was officially welcomed in 1824. In the center of the picture are M. Jusserand, French Ambassador to the United States (at
the right of the standard), and Mme. Jusserand, who is looking toward Mr. Sharp, American Ambassador to France. Judge Alton B. Parker stands next to
Ambassador Sharp. At the right of Ambassador Jusserand is Dr. John Finley, Commissioner of Education of the State of New York. At the extreme left, in
profile, is Mr. Robert Bacon, former Ambassador to France
