"So surely pass the DLEIANAY e Day follows day, and week succeeds to week, Or sunnier memories of our loved ones here. And so lose nothing for eternity."-De Quarrendon. GRIFFITH AND FARRAN, WEST CORNER OF ST. PAUL'S CHURCHYARD, LOND 147. J. 653 TO THE REVERED MEMORY OF MY FATHER AND MOTHER, WHOSE BODIES LIE SLEEPING UNDER THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS, IN A SOMERSETSHIRE CHURCHYARD, AWAITING THE GENERAL RESURRECTION. PREFATORY NOTE. THE title of this book sets forth the object of the Compiler with sufficient clearness. It is founded entirely on the Kalendar of the Prayer Book of the Church of England. It has been arranged not only for the preservation of personal memorials both of present and absent, as well as of lost, friends, but as a Daily Remembrancer of their birthdays; and to serve as a Record of all other events which it may be desired to chronicle; while each day (on the model of books some centuries old) has a selected text from Holy Scripture, as well as a suitable and appro priate quotation from the writings of some Christian Poet. The utility of the Kalendar which is prefixed will be obvious to every Churchman; and it is hoped that some help may be gained from the small collection of Prayers and Meditations to be found at the end of the volume, |
