IN these our days, when vice and folly reign,
When crimes flagitious are no more a stain;
When wealthy knaves, and titled villains rise,
By the same arts, for which the poor man dies.
When men of taste, who ne'er had taste before,
Are ruined by their books, and not their w;
And a black-lettered mania succeeds

To joys the turf affords, and generous steeds.

When each young Lordling launching on the town, A Quarto publishes, and gains renown;
