Before the throne my Surety stands
My name is written on his hands.

He ever lives above,

For me to intercede;
His all-redeeming love,

His precious blood to plead;
His blood aton'd for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.
Five bleeding wounds he bears,
Receiv'd on Calvary ;

They pour effectual prayers,
They strongly speak for me;
Forgive him, O forgive, they cry,
Nor let that ransom'd sinner die.
The Father hears him pray,
His dear anointed One:
He cannot turn away

The presence of his Son:

His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.

My God is reconcil'd,

His pard'ning voice I hear:
He owns me for his child,

I can no longer fear;

With confidence I now draw nigh,
And Father, Abba Father! cry.
Hymn 149. P. M.

'MY God, I am thine, what a comfort

divine, [mine! What a blessing to know that my Jesus is In the heavenly Lamb, thrice happy I am; And my heart doth rejoice at the sound of his

name

2 True pleasures abound in the rapturous

sound : [found : And whoever hath found it, hath paradise My Jesus to know and feel his blood flow, 'Tis life everlasting, 'tis heaven below!

3 Yet onward I haste to the heavenly feast; That, that is the fulness; but this is the taste; And this I shall prove, till with joy I remove To the heaven of heavens in Jesus's love.

Hymn 150. C. M.

HY ceaseless unexhausted love,

Tunnerited and free,

Delights our evil to remove,
And help our misery.

2 Thou waitest to be gracious still:
Thou dost with sinners bear;
That sav'd, we may thy goodness feel,
And all thy grace declare.

3 Thy goodness and thy truth to me,
To every soul abound;

A vast unfathomable sea,

Where all our thoughts are drown'd! 4 Its streams the whole creation reach; So plenteous is the store;

Enough for all, enough for each,
Enough for evermore !

5 Faithful, O Lord, thy mercies are,
A rock that cannot move;

A thousand promises declare
Thy constancy of love!

6 Throughout the universe it reigns,
Unalterably sure;

And while the truth of God remains,
His goodness must endure.

Hymn 151. P. M. REJOICE, the Lord is King;

Your Lord and King adore;

Mortals, give thanks and sing, And triumph evermore; Lift up your hearts, lift up your voice, Rejoice again, I say rejoice.

The God of truth and love,
When he had purged our stains,
He took his seat above:

Lift up your hearts, &c.

His kingdom cannot fail,

He rules o'er earth and heaven;
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus given;

Lift up your hearts, &c.

He sits at God's right hand
Till all his foes submit,
And bow to his command,
And fall beneath his feet;
Lift up your hearts, &c.

He all his foes shall quell,
Shall all our sins destroy;
And every bosom swell

With pure seraphic joy;

Lift up your hearts, &c.

Rejoice in glorious hope,

Jesus the Judge shall come;

And take his servants up

To their eternal home;

We soon shall hear th' archangel's voice,
The trump of God shall sound, Rejoice!
Hymn 152. P. M.

10 TELL me no more of this world's vain

store,

The time for such trifles with me now is o'er; A country I've found, where true joys abound, To dwell I'm determin'd on that happy ground. 2 The souls that believe in paradise live, And me in that number will Jesus receive: My soul, don't delay-he calls thee away, Rise, follow thy Saviour, and bless the glad day. 3 No mortal doth know what he can bestow, What light, strength, and comfort-go after him, go;

Lo onward I move to a city above, [prove. None guesses how wond'rous my journey will 4 Great spoils I shall win from death, hell, and sin, [within: 'Midst outward affliction shall feel Christ And when I'm to die, receive me, I'll cry, For Jesus hath lov'd me, I cannot tell why: 5 But this I do find, we two are so join'd, He'll not live in glory and leave me behind: So this is the race I'm running through grace, Henceforth-till admitted to see my Lord's

face.

6 And now I'm in care my neighbours may share These blessings: to seek them will none of you dare?

In bondage, O why, and death will you lie, When one here assures you free grace is so nigh?

Hymn 153. C. M.

MY God, the spring of all my joys,

The life of my delights,

The glory of my brightest days,
And comfort of my nights.

2 In darkest shades, if thou appear,
My dawning is begun;

Thou art my soul's bright morning star,
And thou my rising sun.

3 The op'ning heavens around me shiue
With beams of sacred bliss,

If Jesus shows his mercy mine,
And whispers I am his.

4 My soul would leave this heavy clay,
At that transporting word,

Run up with joy the shining way,
To see and praise my Lord.

5 Fearless of hell and ghastly death,
I'd break through every foe;
The wings of love and arms of faith
Would bear me conqu'ror through.

Hymn 154. C. M.

1LET every tongue thy goodness speak,

Thou sov'reign Lord of all,

Thy strength'ning hands uphold the weak, And raise the poor that fall.

2 When sorrows bow the spirit down, When virtue lies distress'd;
