"Thongh this is one of the shortest of St. Paul's Epistles, it is not inferior to any of them for the sublimity of the sentiments which it contains, and the excellent spirit which it breathes."-Doddridge. was written chiefly on account of some things which had been misunderstood concerning the near approach of the day of judgment, about A. D. 55 Amidst a number of instructive warnings, and enconragements, it contains a remarkable prophecy, ch. ii. 3-12, the exact fulfilment of which demonstrates its Divine inspiration.
