ANACRE O N.

O MAIA's heav'nly Son! thy Tlæas guard,
With Halcyon Days his pious Gifts reward;
And grant him long a happy Life to grace,
Amidst the juft Euonymean Race.

the utmost that could have been faid of him, was, that he feem'd the Promife and Hope of the Tragick Scene, not that he had acquir'd much Glory from it, before any of his Compofitions had appear'd in Publick.

By the Euonymeans mention'd here, are meant the Athenians. Οἱ Εὐωνυμες, ̓Αθωαίων δήμΘ, φυλῆς 'Epexi. Stephan. Пeel woλewv." The Euony means are the Athenians, of the Tribe of Erechtheus.
