Practice of optometry-creates a State Board of Optometrists, appointed by the Governor, who shall examine and license persons who desire to prac- tice optometry, under certain rules and regulations, etc.-A. B. 37—72, 131, 243, 361, 508, 526, 572, 868.
Practice of osteopathy in the State-provides for the appointment by the Governor of a State Board of Osteopathic Examiners of five members, who shall examine and license all applicants to practice same, etc.-A. B. 288-255, 361.
Practice of vivisection-regulates the same-no person but a duly qualified physician or surgeon shall perform such vivisection-it must be per- formed to advance knowledge which will save or prolong life, etc.- operation must be performed under direction of two members of a State Commission, etc.-A. Premiums upon fire insurance-amends the Fire Insurance Act of April 3d, 1902, which provides a fine of $500 and forfeiture of license in the case of an agent paying or allowing or offering to pay, directly or indirectly, any rebates whatsoever, and provides also that those accepting or receiving the same shall be punished, etc.—A. Prisoners in State Prison and county penitentiaries-amends the Crimes Act (Revision of 1898), by making the minimum limit for commitments to State Prison one year, instead of six months, as now provided by sec- tion 68 of the act, relating to sentences in penitentiaries of counties in- stead of State Prison, etc.-S. Probation officers--amends the Probation Act so that heretofore a woman could be so appointed, authority to appoint a woman is stricken out-- A. B. 489-596, 628, 653, 733, 810, 1044.
Probation officers-authorizes the appointment of assistants in first and second class counties, by the Judge of the Quarter Sessions-A. B. 120- 121, 596.
Probation officed in second class counties-provides that he shall receive fifteen hundred dollars per year salary, and Boards of Freeholders shall fix the compenation of additional ones when needed-A. B. 265-220. Probation officers-provides that the compensation of same, shall be fixed by the Judge of County Court, and when fixed monthly by the County Collector, upon the approval of the Judge-A. Production, manufacture or sale of any article of common use-makes it illegal and void to make a contract, agreement or combination, whereby a monopoly may be created, established or maintained for the same, etc.-A. B. 220-200, 413, 418, 442, 1219.
Prohibiting cruelty to animals-provides for a direct appeal to the court of common pleas in the case of any violation of the act prohibiting the same, etc.-S. B. 159-431, 434, 515, 531, 723, 724, 737, 738, 837.
Prohibiting the laying out of oyster beds in New Jersey waters-provides that the Legislature of New Jersey protest against the action of the Federal Pure Food Commission in prohibiting the same-A. J. Property left to the child or children of a brother or sister-extends the exemption of collateral inheritance tax to the same-A. B. 255–208. Property, assessments upon same, etc.-amends the General Tax Law so that assessments shall be made upon property owned on the eighth day of May instead of on the twentieth day of May, in each year—Â. Property of railroads and canals-provides that property referred to in sub- division 3, section 3, of the act relating to the taxation of same, having a fixed situs, shall be assessed in each taxing district in the same manner and at the same rate as other property, etc.-A. B. 30—70.
Proper y owners in boroughs-supplement to the General Borough Act (Re- vision of 1897), authorizing borough councils, when requested by fifty per cent. of the property owners on any highway, to provide for the sprinkling of said highway with water, oil or other liquid, etc.-S.
