HYMN XCII.

"Let us now go even unto Bethlehem."-ST. LUKE II. 15.

(To be sung to the tune-" Adeste Fideles.")

O come all ye faithful,
Joyfully triumphant ;

O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem ;
Come and behold Him,

Born the king of angels:

O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

God of God,
Light of light,

Lo, He abhors not the Virgin's womb;

Very God,

Begotten not created:

O come let us, &c.

Sing choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,

Sing all ye powers of heaven above;
To God in the highest

Be glory, be glory:

O come let us, &c.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,
Born this happy morning
Jesus to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father

Late in flesh appearing;

O come let us, &c.

HYMN XCIII.

"And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in a manger."-ST. LUKE II, 16.

Oh, come all ye faithful,
Triumphantly sing!
Come, see in the manger
The angel's dread king!
To Bethlehem hasten,
With joyful accord!
Oh, hasten! oh, hasten!
To worship the Lord.

True Son of the Father,

He comes from the skies;
The womb of the Virgin
He doth not despise;
To Bethlehem hasten, &c.

Hark to the angels,

All singing in heaven,
"To God in the highest
All glory be given."
To Bethlehem, hasten, &c.

To Thee, then, O Jesus!
This day of Thy birth,

Be glory and honour

Through heaven and earth;

True Godhead Incarnate;
Omnipotent word!

Oh! hasten! Oh! hasten!
To worship the Lord.

HYMN XCIV.

"And she brought forth her first-born Son, and wrapt Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger."-ST. LUKE 11. 7.

Once in David's royal city,
Stood a lonely cattle shed;
Where a maiden laid her baby
With a manger for his bed.

Mary was that mother mild;
Jesus Christ her only child.

He came down from earth to heaven
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall.

With the poor, and mean and lowly,
Lived on earth, our Saviour holy.

Jesus is our childhood's pattern,

Day by day like us He

grew;

He was little, weak, and helpless,
Tears and smiles like us He knew.

And He feeleth for our sadness,

And He shareth in our gladness.

And our eyes at last shall see Him
Through His own redeeming love;
For that child so dear and gentle
Is our Lord in heaven above.

And He leads His children on
To the place where He is gone.

Not in that poor lowly stable,
With the oxen standing by,
We shall see him; but in heaven
Set at God's right hand on high,

When like stars His children crowned,
All in white shall wait around.

HYMN XCV.

"A light to lighten the Gentiles.”—ST. LUKE II. 32.

O Thou, Who by a star did'st guide,
The wise men on their way,
Until it came and stood beside
The place where Jesus lay:

Though by a star Thou dost not lead
Thy servants now below;

Yet Thy good Spirit, when they need,
Will show them how to go.

Though now we know Thee but in part,
'Tis written in Thy Word,
That "blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see the Lord."

O Saviour, give us, then, Thy grace
To make us pure in heart;

That we may see Thee face to face
Hereafter, as Thou art!
