Thy neighbour?-'Tis the heart bereft
Of every earthly gem-
Widow, and orphans, helpless left;
Go thou, and shelter them.

Thy neighbour?-Yonder toiling slave,
Fetter'd in thought and limb;
Whose hopes are all beyond the grave;
Go thou, and ransom him.

Whene'er thou meet'st a human form Less favour'd than thine own, Remember 'tis thy brother worm, Thy brother, or thy son.

Oh! pass not, pass not, heedless by !—
Perhaps thou can'st redeem

The breaking heart from misery;
Go share thy lot with him.

HYMN LXXVI.

"As many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ."-GAL. III. 27.

Brought to the font with holy care,
And wash'd from nature's shame,
We join the flock of Christ, and bear
The Christian's sacred name.

Blest privilege! but all in vain
Our new and heavenly birth,
If we the truth of God profane,
And cleave to things on earth.

Lord since Thy Holy Name we bear,
Like sons may we obey;

Mark Thy commands with filial fear,

And keep Thy perfect way.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, &c.

HYMN LXXVII.

"So many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into His death."-ROMANS VI. 2.

Into Christ's flock we are received,

And sign'd with His sign,

In token that we shall not shun

To do His will divine.

To fight with sin, the world, and flesh,
Beneath His banner'd Cross;
To scorn the world, and its delights,
Nor fear the shame and loss.

Our fight begins in earliest youth;
In childhood we must wear
Our armour 'gainst the crafty foe,
And for the fight prepare.

High faith in Him our shield must be,
To quench all fiery darts,-
Temptations of the evil one

To gain our wav'ring hearts.

Our helmet in His saving grace,
Our sword the Word of God;
Our Lord Himself that help did use,
When the same way He trod.

HYMN LXXVIII.

"We receive this child into the congregation of Christ's flock, and do sign him with the sign of the cross."-BAPTISMAL SERVICE.

"In token that thou shalt not fear
Christ crucified to own,

We print the cross upon thee here,
And stamp thee His alone.

"In token that thou shalt not blush
To glory in His name,
We blazon here upon thy front
His glory and His shame;

"In token that thou shalt not flinch
Christ's quarrel to maintain,
But 'neath His banner manfully
Firm at thy post remain ;

"In token that thou, too, shalt tread
The path He travell'd by,-
Endure the cross, despise the shame,
And sit thee down on high;

"Thus outwardly, and visibly,
We seal thee for His own:

O may the brow that wears His cross,
Hereafter share His crown!"

HYMN LXXIX,

"O merciful God, grant that the old Adam in this child may be so buried, that the new man may grow up in him."-BAPTISMAL SERVICE.

When kneeling at the hallow'd font
To heaven we lift our pray'r,

Hear gracious Lord, as thou art wont,
And be Thou present there.

Have mercy on the little ones
Thy Church presents to Thee,
And make them Thine adopted sons,
From guilt and error free!

Change Thou the carnal heart within,
And make it all Thine own,

Dead to the flesh, the world, and sin,
Alive to Thee alone.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, &c.
