HYMN CVI.

"If ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God."

Grant, Jesus, that with Thy ascending
My heart with Thee be upward tending;
From earthly bonds my spirit free;
Rest is alone with Heaven and Thee.

The way to Thee my soul desireth;
To Thee my heart, O Lord, aspireth;
Thy love doth evermore endure,—
Thy love, my rest, so true, so sure.

Far hence be all that would detain me,
The false delights that would enchain me;
My treasure far above doth lie,
My treasure Thou, O Lord, on high.

All praise to Thee whose Spirit guideth
My feet, and still my strength abideth;
All praise to Thee whose Cross hath given
To Thy Redeemed a rest in Heaven.

HYMN CVII.

"The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”— GENESIS I. 2.

Creator Spirit! by Whose aid
The world's foundations first were laid,
Come, visit every humble mind;
Come, pour Thy joys on human kind :
From sin and sorrow set us free,
And make us temples worthy Thee.

Thou strength of His almighty hand,

Whose power doth heaven and earth command;
Thrice Holy Fount! Thrice Holy Fire!
Our hearts with heavenly love inspire.
Come, and Thy sacred Unction bring,
To sanctify us while we sing.

Plenteous of grace, descend from high,
Rich in Thy seven-fold energy:
Give us Thyself, that we may see
The Father and the Son by Thee:
Make us eternal truths receive,
And practice all that we believe!

Immortal honour, endless fame,
Attend the Almighty Father's name:
Let God the Son be glorified,
Who for lost man's redemption died!
And equal adoration be,
Eternal Comforter, to Thee.

HYMN CVIII.

"They were all filled with the Holy Ghost."-ACTS II. 4.

Again the slowly circling year
Brings round the blessed hour,
When on the saints the Comforter
Came down in grace and power.

In fashion of a fiery tongue
The Holy Spirit came,

Their lips with eloquence He strung,
And filled their hearts with flame.

God of all grace! to Thee we pray,
To Thee adoring bend;
Into our hearts, O God! this day
Thy Spirit's fulness send.

Thou Who in ages past did'st pour
Thy graces from above,-
The grace where lost in us restore,
And establish peace and love!

HYMN CIX.

"Of His own mercy hath he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and by the renewing of the Holy Ghost."-TITUS 111. 5.

Thou Who camest from above

Bringing light and shedding love,
Teaching men the perfect way,
Guiding to eternal day;-

Thou Whose power can'st change our state,
Making us regenerate,

Help our wayward hearts to be
Subject evermore to Thee.

Where Thou art not, none can do

What is holy, just, and true;

Those whose hearts Thy wisdom leads,

Think good thoughts, and do good deeds.

We have often grieved Thee sore,
Never let us grieve Thee more;
Thou the feeble can'st protect;
Thou the wandering can'st direct.

We are dark ;-be Thou our light;
We are blind;-be Thou our sight;
Be our comfort in distress;
Guide us thro' this wilderness !

HYMN CX.

"I will put a new spirit within you."- EZEKIEL XI. 19.

Come, Holy Spirit, come,

Let Thy bright beams arise;
Dispel the darkness of our minds
The blindness of our eyes.

Revive our drooping faith,

Our doubts and fears remove,
And kindle in our hearts the flame
Of never dying love.

'Tis Thine to cleanse the heart,

To

To sanctify the soul,

pour fresh life through every part, And new-create the whole.

Then shine in us, O God!

Our minds from bondage free;

So shall we know, and praise, and love, The Father, Son, and Thee.
