175. In thee the fatherless findeth mercy. HOSEA XIV. 3.

176. O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. JOEL i. 19.

177. Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. JOEL ii. 13.

178. I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. AMOS iv. 11, 12.

179. Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly, and said, I cried by

reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. JoN. ii. 1, 2.

180. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

184. I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. MICAH Vii. 7.

185. I will bear the indignation of the

Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. MICAH Vii. 9.

186. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. MICAH Vii. 18.

187. The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. NAHUM i. 7.

188. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

189. Seek ye

the Lord, all ye meek of the

earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger. ZEPH. ii. 3.

190. I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord. ZEPH iii. 12.

191. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God. ZECH. xiii. 9.

192. And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. MAL. iii. 3.

193. I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. MAL. iii. 6.

194. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

195. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

196. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
