[Thursday, 27th February, 1908]:-Selection (Standing Committees and Chairmen's Panel),Sir William Brampton Gurdon reported from the Committee of Selection; That they had nominated the following Members to serve on the three Standing Committees for the consideration of all Public Bills, not relating exclusively to Scotland, which may be committed to a Standing

Sir William Brampton Gurdon further reported from the Committee, That they had selected the following Eight Members to be the Chairmen's Panel, and to serve as Chairmen of the Four Standing Committees to be appointed under Standing Order No. 47:-Sir Francis Channing, Sir Thomas Esmonde, Mr. Laurence Hardy, Sir William Holland, Sir David Brynmor Jones, Mr. Stuart-Wortley, Mr. Eugene Wason, and Mr. John William Wilson.

[Friday, 28th February, 1908] :-Standing Committees (Chairmen's Panel),--Mr. StuartWortley reported from the Chairmen's Panel; That they had appointed Mr. Stuart-Wortley to act as Chairman of Standing Committee A; and Mr. Eugene Wason to act as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Scottish Bills.

Mr. Stuart-Wortley further reported from the Chairman's Panel; That they had agreed to the following Resolution, That any Member of the Chairman's Panel be and he is hereby empowered to ask any other Member of the Chairman's Panel to take his place in case of necessity.

[Tuesday, 3rd March 1908]:-Selection (Standing Committees), Sir William Brampton Gurdon reported from the Committee of Selection; That they had added the following Member to Standing Committee A: Mr. Baldwin.

[Monday, 9th March, 1908] :-Standing Committees,-Ordered, That all Standing Committees have leave to print and circulate with the Votes the Minutes of their Proceedings, and any amended Clauses of Bills committed to them.-(Mr. Eugene Wason.)

[Thursday, 12th March, 1908] :-Selection (Standing Committees),-Sir William Brampton Gurdon reported from the Committee of Selection; That they had discharged the following Member from Standing Committee A: Mr. Charles Craig; and had appointed in substitution : Mr. Thomas Lorimer Corbett.

[Monday, 4th May, 1908]:-Selection (Standing Committees) (Chairmen's Panel), Mr. Stuart-Wortley reported from the Chairmen's Panel; That they had discharged Mr. Stuart-Wortley from being Chairman of Standing Committee A, and had appointed Sir Francis Channing to act as Chairman of Standing Committee A in his place.

[Wednesday, 6th May, 1908]-Selection (Standing Committees),-Sir William Brampton Gurdon reported from the Committee of Selection; That they had discharged the following Members from Standing Committee A: Mr. M'Kenna, Mr. Acland, and Mr. Lough; and had appointed in substitution (in respect of the Education (Local Authorities) Bill: Mr. Runciman, Mr. McKinnon Wood, and Mr. Walker.

[Friday, 15th May, 1908],—Access to Mountains Bill,-Order for Second Reading read; Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time:"Amendment proposed, to leave out the word "now," and at the end of the Question to add the words "upon this day six months :"-(Mr. James Mason :) —

Question proposed, "That the word 'now' stand part of the Question: "-Debate arising; Motion made, and Question put," That the Debate be now adjourned: "—(Lord Robert Cecil) — The House divided; Ayes 59, Noes 195.

STANDING COMMITTEE A, to whom the ACCESS TO MOUNTAINS BILL was referred; -Have agreed to report the Bill so far as amended to the House.

SPECIAL REPORT.

Having regard to the period of the year and the position of the business of the House, which makes it impossible that the later stages of the Bill should be proceeded with this Session, the Committee resolved not to proceed further with the Bill.
